Here is a wonderful fireplace enclosure constructed entirely of Solid
Mahogany and Ash Burl veneer. The ceilings are 9 feet tall to give you
an idea of the size of the piece. The mantel is over 7 feet wide and is
a mitred torsion box construction. As always all molding was cut by hand
including the 7" tall cornice molding under the mantel. The finish on
the mahogany is potassium dichromate and garnet shelac. The burl panels
are dyed and coated with shelac. The center panel is a sunburst panel
laid out with 1/8" black boxwood stringing in between each panel. This piece was a joint effort will local furniture maker Paul Warnock of Akron, OH. Paul was responsible for much of the veneer work.
