This Silver Chest Features a solid mahogany case with figured birch veneer drawer fronts and top panel. The top panel is two pieces of bookmatched veneer seamed for visual effects. The legs are tapered on all four sides and come to a bottom heavy diamond. The molding on the base was cut by hand with molding planes. The drawer sides and back are quarter sawn sycamore. The joints for the drawers are hand cut dovetails. The inside of the top compartment and the bottom drawer are flocked in a wine color flocking. The hardware is brass and ebony. The quartered hinges for the top are hand mortised and totally hidden when the lid is closed. the hinges support the lid with stops that disappear into the bottom of the frame. The finish is hand applied Shelac, French Polished.
